Global Education is a process which enables people to understand the links between their own lives and those of people throughout the world. It aims to develop skills, attitudes and values to bring about a more just and sustainable world.

Global Education aims to develop an understanding of the factors and underlying causes that surround poverty, injustice, conflict, health and environmental degradation both in Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally.

Global Education encompasses human rights education, values education, peace education, environmental education, multicultural and bicultural education, citizenship education, and futures education. In Aotearoa New Zealand, global education also encompasses te Tiriti O Waitangi education.

GEC has a Schools Programme and a Community Youth Programme. Resources for both the Schools and Community Youth Programmes can be accessed through GEC’s website, www.globaled.org.nz which also has a gateway to GEC’s free lending library for books, teaching resources, as well as videos and DVDs on global issues.
